Story
Our Mather shirt is named for Stephen Mather, the founder and first director of the National Park Service. After a successful career in borax mining, Mather became a conservationist and led a campaign to oversee the creation of a federal agency to oversee the National Parks. Our Mather shirt comes in a soft poplin with a grey and white small check pattern. Mather also features our new Semi-spread, or “Ainsley” style. It’s a classic collar that looks great dressed up with a tie or casually unbuttoned. Along with our new mitered convertible cuffs, this is one of our most versatile shirt styles yet.

Fabric
is a particular variety that is grown in only a few other places. It is renowned as some of the best in the world. It has an extra long staple, which means it has longer fibers, resulting in a silkier, more durable fabric. Poplin, sometimes called broadcloth, is a plain weave which means the threads alternately cross over and then under each other. This results in a very smooth and durable fabric that has an almost silky hand feel, particularly with higher thread counts. Also, poplins look very crisp when ironed.
